Privacy Policy

StartSmart Insurance & Consulting LLC ("StartSmart," "we," "us") is a Pennsylvania Resident Producer Agency, license #1272935, based in Philadelphia. This notice explains what personal and financial information we collect through startsmartpa.net, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices available to you. It is written to satisfy the federal Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act privacy rule and Pennsylvania's own insurance privacy regulation, 31 Pa. Code Chapter 146a, both of which apply to us as a licensed insurance producer handling nonpublic personal financial information.

Information we collect

What you give us directly

The only information this website collects is what you type into the quote request form on our Contact page: your first and last name, email address, phone number, the type of coverage you're asking about, and anything you write in the optional message field. We do not ask for a Social Security number, date of birth, driver's license number, or any financial account number through this website. If those are ever needed, it will be as part of an actual application you complete directly with Fernanda, by phone or in person, never through a web form.

What we don't collect

This site does not use cookies, analytics scripts, or tracking pixels of any kind. We don't know how you found this page, what you clicked before arriving, or what you did after you left. The only record of your visit is the form submission you choose to send us.

How we use it

We use what you submit for one purpose: to understand what you're asking about and get back to you, by phone, email, or WhatsApp depending on what you provided and how you reach out. We do not use it to build an advertising profile, and we do not sell it.

Who we share it with

We use Kommo, a customer relationship management (CRM) platform, to organize and respond to inquiries submitted through this site. Kommo acts as our service provider: it stores your submission so Fernanda can see and respond to it, and it does not use your information for its own purposes.

If you click the "Talk to us on WhatsApp" button, that opens a conversation in WhatsApp, which is operated by Meta and governed by Meta's own privacy policy, not ours. We only see what you choose to send us there.

If you go on to actually apply for or purchase a policy through us, whether that started on this website or not, the carrier you're applying to will need information from you directly as part of underwriting. That relationship and that carrier's privacy practices are separate from this website, and we'll tell you plainly when information is moving to a carrier.

Outside of those three cases, service providers who help us operate, and carriers you choose to apply with, we do not disclose your nonpublic personal financial information to any other company, and we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing.

Former customers

If you stop working with us, these same protections continue to apply to the information we hold about you.

Consumer reports

We do not obtain a credit report or any other consumer report about you through this website. Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, we're required to say so plainly, so: we don't.

Your right to opt out

Pennsylvania law gives you the right to opt out of having your nonpublic personal financial information shared with companies outside StartSmart, when that sharing isn't covered by one of the law's own exceptions (like the service providers and carriers described above). As of the date at the top of this page, we don't engage in the kind of sharing that opt-out applies to. If that ever changes, we'll tell you how to opt out before it does. In the meantime, if you have any question about how your information is used, contact us using the details at the bottom of this page and we'll answer directly.

How we protect it

Access to what you submit is limited to Fernanda and to Kommo, the service provider that helps her manage it. We don't publish it, we don't use it beyond responding to you, and we don't collect more than the form asks for. As a business handling nonpublic personal financial information, we're subject to the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act's Safeguards Rule, which requires a written information security program; as a small business, several of that Rule's heavier requirements, like a written risk assessment and annual penetration testing, don't apply to us.

Children's privacy

This site isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18 through the contact form. Our passport service page mentions applications for minors: in that case, it's the parent or guardian who fills out the form and works with us, on the child's behalf, not the child.

If you're not in Pennsylvania or New Jersey

This notice is written to satisfy the privacy law that applies to us as a Pennsylvania-licensed producer serving Pennsylvania and New Jersey. If you're a resident of a different state or country with its own privacy law, and you believe it gives you rights beyond what's described here, contact us and we'll address your request directly rather than leave you to guess.

Changes to this notice

If our practices change, we'll update this page and change the effective date at the top. We won't make a material change to how we share your information without telling you first.
