What this is

We help you get the application right before it goes in. That means sitting down with the form, going through it with you, checking that what you are sending matches what is being asked for, and explaining the parts that are not obvious.

Most delayed applications were never refused. They came back, for a photo that missed the specification, a name that did not match across documents, or a field left empty. That is the part worth getting right the first time.

StartSmart is not a government agency, is not affiliated with the U.S. Department of State, and is not an authorised passport acceptance facility. What we provide is help preparing your application.

Who it's for

  • You are applying for the first time
  • You are renewing one that has expired or is close to it
  • You are applying for a child and are not sure what the parents have to do
  • You want someone to check the paperwork before you send it

How we work on it

We go through the form with you rather than for you, so you understand what you are signing. Where a document is missing or a photo will not pass, you hear it here, at the point where it is still easy to fix.

Common Questions

Questions about this service

Are you a passport office?

No. We are not a government agency and not an authorised acceptance facility. What we do is help you prepare the application correctly, in your language, before it reaches the people who do issue passports.

My photo keeps coming back rejected.

That is the single most common reason an application is returned. The specification is strict about background, head size, expression and glasses, and a photo that looks fine to you can still fail it. Bring what you have and you will know before you send it.

What about a passport for a child?

Applications for a minor work differently, particularly around who has to consent and who has to be present. Tell us the child's age and the family situation and we will go through what that means for your case.

Simple Process

Three steps to the right coverage.

No jargon. No pressure. Just a clear path to protecting what matters.

STEP 01

Tell us about your situation.

We start with a conversation in English, Portuguese or Spanish, so we understand your life, your business, and what you actually need. No forms to fill out before we talk.

STEP 02

We find the right coverage.

Based on your situation, we compare options, explain the differences in plain language, and recommend what makes sense, never what pays us the most commission.

STEP 03

You're protected. We stay close.

Once you're covered, we don't disappear. As your life changes, we review your coverage and adjust it. A new employee, a new vehicle, a new chapter.
